Alcohol Addiction
Alcohol Problem?
Alcoholism (alcohol addiction/abuse) is the consumption of, or preoccupation with, alcoholic beverages, to the extent that this behaviour interferes with the person’s normal personal, family, social, or work life. The chronic alcohol consumption caused by alcoholism can result in psychological and physiological disorders.
The physical health effects associated with alcohol consumption include cirrhosis of the liver, pancreatitis, polyneuropathy, alcoholic dementia, heart disease, increased chance of cancer, nutritional deficiencies, sexual dysfunction, and death from many sources.
How We Can Help
Life Resolutions® has a network of qualified psychologists, some who specialise in alcohol addictions. If you are using alcohol to cope with other issues such as stress, grief and loss, or relationship issues our psychologists can help you to overcome these problems.
Throughout the counselling process, our psychologist will aim to uncover the cause of an addiction and discover trigger points for addictive behaviour. They can help you to take the relevant steps to control and eliminate the addiction over time, such as breaking addictive patterns, learning coping strategies to manage day to day stressors, and changing negative thinking patterns.
Medicare Rebates available
You may be eligible to receive Medicare rebates immediately into your bank account when paying for your session by cash, credit card, EFTPOS or cheque at all Life Resolutions® locations.
